Serotonin is a naturally occurring neurotransmitter (chemical
messenger) in the brain. This neurotransmitter has been the
subject of numerous magazine articles, as well as television
news health segments. Serotonin is commonly known as
"the mood chemical". Serotonin imbalance and deficiency
have been implicated in a number of clinical disorders
      including depression, premenstrual syndrome, migraine
headaches, eating disorders, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue
syndrome. Although present in minute amounts in the
human body, serotonin plays an incredibly important role in
so many vital physical and emotional functions.

Serotonin is made inside the body from the amino acid,
tryptophan. This amino acid is found in various food
sources, and high amounts are found in carbohydrates,
chocolate and other sweets. When a person ingests
chocolate, the body converts tryptophan, the building block
    into serotonin.

Nice info...Are there any new conditions or diseases that have occurred in your close relatives since your last visit to the doctor? If so, let your doctor or nurse know. Family history can influence your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, diabetes, or cancer. Your doctor or nurse will assess your risk of disease based on your family history and other factors. He or she may also recommend things you can do to help prevent disease, such as exercising more, changing your diet, or using screening tests to help detect disease early.
